Conference: Husbandry, Management and Conservation of Syngnathids. Nov 2-4th
2011
is an upcoming symposium held
at the Shedd aquarium,
Chicago. The symposium will include keynote talks,
presentations and workshops on a wide range of topics, including conservation
and sustainability, breeding and population management, nutrition, medical
care, exhibit design and management, and legislation and trade. As with previous symposia in this series, we aim to
include a mix of expertise from aquariums, aquaculture, academia
and conservation organizations. There will be a combination of invited
speakers and talks selected by a program committee from abstracts submitted.
We also plan to publish peer-reviewed proceedings.

Special Issue of Journal of Fish
Biology.The
biology of syngnathids: pipefishes, seadragons, and
seahorses
The June 2011 special issue of Journal of Fish Biology edited by Ingrid Ahnesjö is out now. Review articles on sexual signaling,
reproductive endocrinology, genetics and genomics, evolutionary origins, and
conservation and management of syngnathids are included in this issue as well
as many original research papers and brief communications.
